Elina Vähälä, violin
Paavali Jumppanen, piano
Internationally acclaimed violinist Elina Vähälä and pianist Paavali Jumppanen bring to the stage a compelling combination of technical virtuosity and profound musical expression. Both artists have performed worldwide at major festivals and as soloists with leading orchestras, and their collaboration is known for its refined cohesion and interpretative depth.
The programme guides the listener from Romantic intimacy to modern Finnish soundscapes and the clarity of Classical form. The evening opens with Clara Schumann’s Romance No. 1, a delicate and lyrical work that reveals the composer’s gift for uniting emotional expression with melodic elegance. This is followed by Robert Schumann’s Violin Sonata No. 2 in D minor, in which contrapuntal textures and the dialogue between violin and piano create an intense and deeply engaging musical experience.
Modern Finnish music is represented by Jaakko Kuusisto’s Valo (“Light”), shimmering with colourful harmonies and rhythmic vitality. The concert concludes with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 10 in G major, where Classical clarity, luminous lines and virtuosic energy combine in a brilliant finale.
