INTRODUCTION:
The opening concert of the 40th anniversary festival of Urkuyö ja Aaria turns its gaze toward our western neighbour. Music and culture have always crossed and united boundaries – both geographical and spiritual. The theme of this concert highlights the shared roots of Finnish and Swedish cultural heritage.
In a programme curated by the charismatic soprano Helena Juntunen, the emotional landscapes of the songs travel along hundreds of roads and through thousands of reflections – from longing veiled in images of nature to experiences of the sacred and their encounter.
